Directions
To access the trail, drive about 5 miles on Highway 9 (SR 9) past La Verkin and then take a right on Sheep Bridge Road where you’ll cross the bridge and after you cross a cattle guard, you’ll take another right where you’ll soon come upon a parking area.
Description
A trail to flatter the senses, flirt with danger and just give you great time, the JEM trail follows the Virgin River and Hurricane cliffs. If you like speedy singletracks, with twisty, technical switchbacks, and a don’t-look-down-you’re-on-the-edge-of-a-cliff kind of ride, you will LOVE this. It’s fun and flowy and keeps you on your toes.
Many use the trail as a descent-only trail and take the shuttle at the bottom back up to their cars, but you can also take the trail itself back up to complete a 13 mile loop. The ascent is actually a double track dirt road for part of the way until you turn left into the wash and follow the trail up the small canyons below Gooseberry Mesa. From there you’ll find some single tracked short grinders and then, after about six miles, you’ll find yourself near a road and can cruise the rest of the way back to your car.
