Trail connecting the Grotto Trailhead to the Emerald Pools trails. We suggest taking the route to the Upper Emeralds Pools and walking back down to the Lodge from there, or taking Kayenta back to the Grotto. Alternatively, you can start at the Lodge, visit the Emerald Pools, and then hike down Kayenta.
Description
Kayenta is a beautiful little trail connecting the Grotto Trailhead to the Emerald Pools trails. The red dirt trail slowly climbs up from the canyon floor, from time to time, walking over stone staircases and stone slabs while you enjoy beautiful views of the river and the canyon peaks in the distance. After about a mile or less, you’ll see the sign indicating the routes to the Emerald Pools, depending on which pools you want to go to. We suggest taking the route to the Upper Emeralds Pools and walking back down to the Lodge from there, or taking Kayenta back to the Grotto. Alternatively, you can start at the Lodge, visit the Emerald Pools, and then hike down Kayenta.
