Description
A beautiful and lesser-known trail is the Paradise Rim Trail where you’ll enjoy fabulous views of the Santa Clara and Snow Canyon areas. Whether you’re an expert hiker, biker, or equestrian, or you’re just beginning, this is a fun and surefire way to enjoy the Red Cliffs Desert Preserve. It’s a single track trail and depending on how much you want to hike or ride, you can use it as an out and back trail or combine it with other trails to make a loop.
For bikers, it’s recommended to use as a top-to-bottom trail because there are some slick-rock ledge segments. There is also a short sand section. As a loop, you’ll enjoy riding (or hiking) the Turtle Wall trail on the north and then taking the Paradise Rim Trail on the south, or you can ride up Becks Hill (for bikers, an upper intermediate trail) to Paradise Rim, and then Turtle Wall. Note that there are some technical segments on both the Turtle Wall Trail and Paradise Rim.
Overall, a beautiful trail and a great way to take in the views. A family friendly trail, it’s very easy to access all year round as it’s just outside of St. George. If you do bring your children, just beware that several of the overlooks do have steep drop-offs. Dogs on leashes are also permitted. And finally, the trail does have full sun exposure, so it’s best to avoid the afternoon sun.
