Directions
You can access the trail from the Cove Wash Trailhead, right next to the parking lot. Take Santa Clara Drive through Santa Clara to Gates Lane, just before the Jacob Hamblin home. Keep going until it becomes a dirt road and you’ll see a sign for the Trailhead. Turn here for about .7 miles until you reach the parking lot.
Description
Precipice is a connector trail in the Santa Clara Trail network, paralleling the western direction of Barrel Roll. But be prepared, Precipice is more advanced, taking you through rougher and rockier terrain than Barrel Roll as you go along the mesa ridge. Use Precipice as an add-on the Barrel Roll and or to reach the Sidewinder or Suicidal Tendencies trails.
You’ll find a tight section in the middle of the Trail where you’ll have to navigate huge rock slabs. This is where the trail earns its name! From there you’ll climb higher on the ridge before connecting with Sidewinder.
