Description
A popular trail, Riverside Walk is a flat, paved trail following the Virgin River and gives you access to the Narrows. It’s perfect for all ages and ability levels and begins at the Temple of Sinewava, at the north end of Zion Canyon. Engulf yourself between impressive rock walls as you enjoy watching the Virgin River flow by and as you pass by a small pool on the right. The Riverside Walk is a beautiful place full of lush “hanging gardens,” cottonwood trees, and all sorts of herbaceous plants and grasses. Feel free to cool down in the river if you want a break from the desert heat. This is a great hike, especially for the late afternoon, or early evening once the canyon is out of direct sunlight. Finally, keep your eyes out for wildlife, from mule-deer, to wild turkeys, to squirrels (just don’t feed or touch the animals).
If you’d like to continue on into the Narrows, where you’ll be walking in the water through incredible canyons, sometimes up to waist or chest deep, learn more about them here.
