Description
A hidden jewel in the desert, the Turtle Wall trail is loved by hikers, bikers, climbers, and equestrians alike – and not only because it’s a great adventure easily accessible from St. George. It’s a beautiful trail in its own right, full of variety and great for a number of different outdoor activities. If you follow the trail, within a mile you’ll come upon the famous “turtle-shaped” sandstone formation. The trail will lead you up the back of the large “turtle” and provide you with a beautiful view.
For bikers, here you’ll find a favorite part of the trail with mostly slick rock. Another beautiful view on the trail is right before the trail begins to loop back, where you’ll find the top of the mesa and a breathtaking view of Snow Canyon and Ivins.
From here you can head back for an gentler descent or connect to Paradise Rim for a longer and more rugged return. In fact, this is a popular option for bikers, making for about a 4 mile loop. Other choices for loops include connecting Turtle Wall with Chuckwalla Trail, Beck Hill Trail, the Halfway Wash Trail or Paradise Rim.
Enjoy beautiful red rock and red sand, small side canyons, and graceful arches on the Turtle Wall trail!
